Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities associated with this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize a diverse array of professional theories, assessment techniques, and methodologies to provide care for patients suffering from various podiatric medical and surgical issues.

  • Formulate comprehensive treatment plans.

  • Integrate innovative clinical procedures into practice.

  • Offer expert advice and consultation regarding the management of podiatric conditions.

  • Effectively oversee and guide professional staff, particularly students and residents.

  • Accurately evaluate the skills and qualifications of both current and potential employees.

  • Foster strong interpersonal relationships, including conflict resolution, and collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers across various specialties and departments.

  • Engage productively with individuals or groups representing diverse interests.

  • Diagnose and manage medical and surgical conditions using the most suitable techniques to ensure high-quality care.

  • Conduct initial evaluations, comprehensive workups, and admissions for podiatric patients as necessary. Clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Operating Room duties (with experience in a broad range of standard podiatric surgical procedures), inpatient rounds, Emergency Room, and Outpatient Clinics. The staff podiatrist will be proficient in performing various podiatric surgical interventions.

  • May supervise students and residents during their rotations in the podiatry service.

  • Engage in surgical quality and performance improvement initiatives as appropriate.

  • Participate in podiatry night call and execute emergency surgical procedures as needed.

  • Educate patients about their conditions and treatment plans. The staff podiatrist will evaluate the risks and benefits associated with surgical options and ensure that patients provide informed consent, fully understanding the significant risks and advantages of surgical interventions.

  • Complete all required electronic clinical documentation and charting in a timely manner, including outcomes reporting as necessary.

  • Collaborate with Medical Center staff on various patient care matters.

  • Adhere to a policy of full transparency. In the event of complications during a patient's treatment, the staff podiatrist will discuss the incident, including options for a second opinion or legal recourse, and document these conversations in the patient's chart (CPRS).

  • Work harmoniously with patients and colleagues, treating all healthcare professionals and patients' families with respect and dignity.

  • Report both administratively and clinically to the Chief of Podiatry, and may also report to the Chief of Surgery for specific programs.

Additional responsibilities may be discussed with the hiring manager.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or as determined by the department.
Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increments.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid leave annually (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potentially 5 days of paid absence for Continuing Medical Education).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with contributions of up to 5% by the organization.
Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal insurance options can be maintained into retirement).
Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification).
Malpractice: Complimentary liability protection with tail coverage included.
