Job Description

Role Purpose:

Tsain-Ko Group of Companies is seeking a visionary and results-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in advancing sustainable economic development opportunities for the shíshálh Nation. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership, oversee operations, and ensure financial sustainability while aligning all business activities with the Nation’s values, culture, and long-term vision. This is a unique opportunity to lead a diverse and growing portfolio of businesses while contributing to meaningful community impact and Nation-building.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Lead the development and execution of Tsain-Ko’s strategic vision, mission and long-term objectives 
  • Identify opportunities for growth, diversification and innovation 
  • Ensure organizational agility and forward-thinking leadership 

Governance & Board Relations

  • Act as the primary liaison between management and the Board of Directors 
  • Provide transparent, accurate and timely reporting on performance and risks 
  • Lead preparation of strategic plans, annual reports and budgets for Board approval 

Operational Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight to the senior leadership team 
  • Ensure operational excellence across all divisions and subsidiaries 
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous performance improvement 

Financial Stewardship

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting and resource allocation 
  • Evaluate and pursue investment opportunities 
  • Ensure long-term financial sustainability and economic returns for the Nation 

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • With the Board’s direction, may serve as a spokesperson for Tsain-Ko Group 
  • Build and maintain relationships with government, industry and community partners 
  • Advocate for the economic and cultural interests of the shíshálh Nation 

Talent Development & Organizational Culture

  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and culturally grounded workplace 
  • Lead succession planning and leadership development initiatives 
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization 

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks 
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and ethical standards 

Innovation & Growth

  • Drive new business development and strategic partnerships 
  • Explore new markets and economic opportunities aligned with Tsain-Ko’s mandate 

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Oversee systems for tracking organizational performance
  • Provide regular updates to the Board on financial, operational, and strategic outcomes

Qualification, Knowledge, and Attributes

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (a Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive senior leadership experience
  • Experience working with or alongside Indigenous governments, organizations, or economic development entities is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and organizational leadership
  • Strong understanding of governance structures and Board relations
