About the Role

Organizational Development & Workforce Strategy Lead (Hands-On Builder)

We are seeking an Organizational Development professional to join Ember Group Consulting as a full-time consultant. In this role, you will initially be embedded with a leading healthcare services and consulting organization, supporting critical workforce and organizational transformation initiatives within a complex, mission-driven environment. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of clients and industries, working alongside a high-caliber team of consultants as you continue to grow within Ember.

This role is highly execution-oriented and ideal for someone who enjoys building from the ground up—developing practical tools, frameworks, and deliverables that directly support business leaders through transformation.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the design and build of workforce planning strategies , including buy / build / borrow / restructure approaches aligned to business priorities
  • Develop capability models, skill frameworks, and assessment tools to evaluate current and future state organizational needs
  • Create practical, usable deliverables (e.g., workforce plans, org design materials, talent strategies, leadership-ready presentations)
  • Support and execute organizational design and effectiveness initiatives , including team structures, role clarity, and operating models
  • Drive change management and communication strategies , including stakeholder messaging, adoption plans, and executive communications
  • Partner with HR and business leaders—but with a strong focus on personally building and delivering the work , not just advising or facilitating
  • Translate data and insights into clear, actionable outputs that leaders can immediately use

What we’re looking for:

  • ~5–10 years of experience in organizational development, organizational effectiveness, or workforce strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on development of workforce plans, capability models, and org design frameworks
  • Strong background in change management and communications , including building materials and messaging from scratch
  • Proven ability to operate as a “doer / builder”—comfortable rolling up sleeves and creating deliverables independently
  • Experience working in fast-paced, evolving environments with some level of ambiguity
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution (this is not a pure advisory/HRBP role)

Location & Travel

  • Charlotte-based preferred
  • Occasional travel or on-site presence may be required based on client needs
