Organizational Development Consultant

Organizational Development Consultant Location: Portland, OR (with some travel required) Duration: One year contract Schedule: MondayFriday, Full-Time Compensation: $48$60 per hour, DOE

Position Overview

A long-standing client of LHH Recruitment is seeking an experienced Organizational Development Consultant to support enterprise-wide change and transformation initiatives. This role focuses on strengthening organizational effectiveness through people-centered strategies that align talent, processes, and culture with business priorities. The consultant will partner closely with leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure successful adoption of change initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives enterprise change initiatives by designing and executing people-centered strategies that strengthen organizational performance and support business priorities.
  • Partners closely with leaders and cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver change efforts, ensuring alignment across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Evaluates the scope and impact of proposed changes by analyzing readiness, identifying risks, and mapping affected stakeholders to support successful transitions.
  • Assesses workforce capabilities related to future-state processes and tools, and recommends targeted learning, training, or development solutions where gaps exist.
  • Develops clear, compelling communication approaches that keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned throughout periods of change.
  • Works alongside managers and leaders to effectively cascade messaging and reinforce key changes with their teams.
  • Leads adoption efforts for new systems, processes, technologies, and organizational initiatives to ensure sustainable implementation.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders to foster understanding, buy-in, and advocacy for change initiatives.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging change management practices and applies relevant insights to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy, navigating complex challenges independently while escalating only the most critical issues as needed.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to team members and collaborates with leadership to advance broader departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in organizational development, change management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Human Resources or similar is required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise or large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of organizational development principles, change frameworks, and workforce enablement strategies.
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with leaders and stakeholders at all levels without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and thrive in complex, evolving environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically as required.
