Join MGX as a Crane Diagnostics Expert

Be the go-to mechanic for complex crane issues in our shop. Under the direction of the Service Manager, you’ll perform inspections, fault isolation, repairs, and preventive maintenance on mobile cranes and boom trucks to keep customers operating safely and efficiently.

Core Responsibilities
  • Operate and inspect cranes to identify defects and performance issues.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
  • Examine components for wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Interpret and apply OEM operating manuals, parts catalogs, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic systems post-repair to verify compliance with OEM specifications.
  • Stage jobs effectively by validating parts and drawings.
  • Execute detailed annual inspections and document results.
  • Accurately complete working reports, hour reports, time sheets, hours overviews, and expense reports.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.
  • Preferred experience with Grove RT & TMS, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong communicator with a customer-first approach.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Personal tool set required: full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

  • Engage in safety training and demonstrate competency.
  • Report hazards and unsafe behaviors or correct them when possible.
Schedule, Physical Demands, and Environment
  • Full-time, typically 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; overtime and weekends may be required based on workload.
  • Work around extreme temperatures, various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, strong odors, and loud noise.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.

Compensation, Benefits, and Incentives
  • $4,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days of continuous service.
