Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Perioperative/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse. This role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and adhering to professional ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care such as medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all within established policies.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and ensure safety, while communicating findings effectively to the healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and quality monitoring to support compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Communicate clearly with physicians, team members, patients, and families to improve outcomes and promote a positive care experience.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately, fostering teamwork and accountability within the care environment.
  • Adapt positively to the dynamic healthcare setting, supporting organizational mission and values through continuous learning and critical thinking.
Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse license in a Compact State or the state of employment.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and potentially hostile individuals, with minimal physical discomfort expected.
